Into The Smoke

Pulltown USA

Bowling Green, Ohio

/

Summer brings tractor pulling season where we’re from. County fairs, local community pulls, fundraisers. But this time, we wanted to enter the belly of the beast and meet the titans of tractor pulling.

Thunderous supercharged engines. Five-figure horsepower. Explosive, chassis-twisting power; enough to make Hercules blush.

We loaded up and set off on a six-hour drive for the largest outdoor truck and tractor pull in the world. There, among the peaceful fields and farmland of Bowling Green, Ohio, we found monsters lurking in the smoke. Decibels rivaling jet engines at takeoff. A violent sonic assault you don’t simply hear. You feel it in your chest.

Now we understand the outer limits of this sport, and we’re pretty sure the tectonic plates beneath Bowling Green shifted a few inches while we were there.

Until next time.
